1 - Reflection on Previous I Search Experiences-Thurs. April 3)
Entry 1
1. What are some of the previous research projects you have done?
  • Science project, religion project, and Hammurabi project

2. Based on these projects, what does research mean to you?
  • Research means finding facts about your topic, and compiling them into a report

3. Describe one of your research successes or failures. Why was the experience positive or negative?
  • When I did a religion project, I put it off researching until the last day. Then I spent all night making my religion project. The experience was a negative one because I had to spend my whole evening finishing the project.

2 - Reflection on Webbing Process-Mon. April 7
Entry 2

1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because: It helped me because I had a plan of what I was going to research before I started researching so it wasn't an unorganized mess.

3 - Why I Chose This Topic and What I Know About My Topic-Mon. April 7
1. Topic: Roman Military
2. Why you chose it: I wanted to know why the Romans were so successful on the battlefield
3. What you already know about your topic: A legionary is a basic Roman heavy infantry unit that was usually armed with a tower shield, two javelins, a short sword, a dagger, and heavy amour.

4 - Pre-Notetaking Activity-Tues. April 8
1. Brainstorm a list of questions related to your topic: Why were the Romans so successful on the battlefield?(fat) Which of their technologies advanced over time? What battle tactics did they use? What were their different types of units? Update: What are legions? What armor did the troops use? What were their specialty troops?

Please make more skinny questions. They will help your research process go easier.

Did you find it easy or difficult to create a fat question from your ideas: The pre-notetaking sheet helped me organize my questions into Fat questions and Skinny question helping me predict the priority and placement of the questions in a report.
